If you Google this United Press International news story you’ll read a funny quote about how the I-pads were provided to the chimpanzees as a part of “an enrichment program.” In 2 fiscal years Sandwich will have spent north of $500,000 on I Pads; let’s hope someone besides Apple is being enriched.

Seeing how my son keeps getting texts during the school day, from friends of Sandwich I-pad owners, I have to question the enrichment of the students.

It was really great when the students received an e mail on their school-issued devices about the lockdown from the Sandwich High School Twitter account before lockdown even happened from an administrator!

Do we really wonder why the search dogs never find any drugs?

I am not against the implementation of ipads but without any oversight or restrictions they have been a detriment to the education of SHS students and teaching. I am quite sure that you will be able to see this correlation when the MCAS scores nose dive. The ipad rollout was poorly implemented.

There was NO implementation plan. If the Supt "didn't have time" to discuss a $500,000 + purchase with the School Committee, there's no way he could convince the many pampered poodles in the teachers union to incorporate anything new in their standard daily routines. Some teachers have refused to allow students to use them in class, other kids are only using them to take pictures of blackboard notes.

More smoke and mirrors...
