The gloves are off!

Despite several warnings, the School Committee missed another opportunity to avoid a lawsuit last night when they refused to have a rational discussion about the Superintendent's contract.

Did they really think the matter would just go away?

Does Linnehan think anybody cares that she isn't interested in changing her vote, or does Crossman really think anybody cares about her "anonymous sources" ?

I suspect we will see that there is already a contract in place.

There was a strange discussion last night about Dr. Johnson's credentials -- specifically whether her PhD from Columbia University was real.  Apparently, Crossman & Kangas summoned her to a meeting with instructions to bring her diploma.  Huh?  Overlooking the fact that I doubt Kangas would recognize a college diploma, did they really think her credentials weren't checked when she was hired?  School Committee members got copies of all her academic records and licenses when she was hired three years ago.

This is similar to several inane discussions the Committee sat through last year when Linnehan questioned the existence of her Massachusetts Superintendent's license.

Just a hunch (call me paranoid), but could this nonsense have anything to do with the fact that one of the first things the Superintendent did when she took over was to investigate an inquiry about the validity of the teaching credentials of several members of the teaching faculty?  Could the fact that several staff members were transferred, replaced, or forced to seek updated certification for their existng positions have triggered this little charade?

I am sure its just a coincidence.

Just when I thought it couldn't possibly get any more stupid. Picturing Dr. Johnson pointing out the raised seal on her Columbia diploma to those two... well. If they weren't in a position to do such real damage, my sides would hurt from laughing.

The damage is probably already done. Three months and no movement on pressing finacial issues, looking away from legal due process, no interaction with other major town committees about the budget deficit and likely routine infractions of open meeting law. Not that those who have gone before haven't broken open meeting law.

Electing the two new members was only part of the problem. Many citizens didn't know what they were getting with one and voters didn't really look at experience and skill set as of value. I know lots of people who are miserable they voted the way they did and shocked at what the new members are doing. I'm sure very few would have expected the insanity of the new majority power trip.

Some would say this is all about the union pulling strings to drive their agenda, but I think it is about small town politics (which are especially bad in poor old Sandwich) at its very worst raging a path of destruction because of a volunteer well meaning group of people who are in way over their heads. And because of the players behind the scenes pulling their little power trip, revenge trips, etc.

Its all very sad and pathetic but frankly I would suspect the power four have felt margenalized in the past and now its their turn to wave the stick. Its a big stick, but legal issues can't be ignored regardless of its size. How can the mindset change when there is no objectivity. The gang behind the power four just keeps giving them thumbs up. Where will these poor women gain their own sense of leadership and responsibility. And if there is a huge horrible something about Dr. Johnson, if worships satan, then we deserve to know that. There is no respect among the public for the ridiculous way the power four is waging their war. God help us.
